We are passionate about teaching students to cultivate a deep mind-body awareness that enables them to respond intelligently and compassionately
to the unique challenges of their individual constitution and the ever-changing needs of their mind and body.
Each class offers an holistic balance of:
Guided Relaxation, Mindful Movement,
Breathing Practice &
Meditation. Synchronising mindful movement with breath, Beginners Yoga improves posture, core strength & flexibility without causing strain to the joints. Students are introduced to a variety of practices to assist them in developing a Yoga practice that works for them as individuals.
Drawing upon principles of Alexander Technique, we approach Yoga from the understanding that each student brings habitual patterns of movement that are unique to them as an individual to their Yoga practice. This Beginners' Yoga Course gently assists students in bringing these unconscious patterns into their conscious awareness, from where the process of personal change can naturally unfold. Students are further offered a range of simple meditation and relaxation techniques that help to deepen their self understanding and enhance their ability to meet the stresses and challenges of everyday life.
Each class builds on the previous whilst exploring the physical and philosophical dimensions within a particular weekly theme.
Strong emphasis is placed on correct technique & students receive guidance on adapting postures to accommodate their individual needs, including past injuries and chronic conditions.
This approach helps to prevent over-exertion and injury, whilst ensuring that each and every Yoga practice is truly of benefit.
At Simple Affair, we focus on the way in which you move, rather than how far you move.
